So Much has Happened; Here´s a Start...

It is 2 October and I am in Burgos, Spain. Burgos is one of the beautiful, large cities on the Camino where I always find myself stopping for a couple of days. My favorite three-star hotel and Italian restaurant are in Burgos...what more reason do I need? After two weeks of albergues and pilgrim menus, a girl just needs some high-thread-count sheets, a big bathtub with loads of bubbles, and a meal that doesn´t include eggs. Burgos.

I left Saint Jean Pied de Port on 13 September and walked over the big stairmaster Pyrenees mountains. Upupupupup and then a nose-dive into the Spanish village of Roncesvalles. I missed this route, affectionately called the ¨high road¨, when I walked in April 2007 because there was so much snow that the trail markers were hidden. I had to take the low road that time - still over the Pyrennees but with less UP.

The walk was breathtaking, literally, and because the views were stunning. I feel so lucky to have made that journey.
